Project: Cooling Tower & Holding Tank Clean Out
Client: Bridgestone/Firestone Tire of North America
LaVergne, Tennessee
Summary: This project required the removal of copious amounts of carbon black sludge in and on the cooling tower and then collected in the holding tanks. Cooling towers are constructed in such a manner that access to each compartment is limited at best. Through experience and the ability to adapt and improvise, our client was so impressed with the cleanliness of the tower we have performed the clean out each plant shut down..
The clean out of two 50,000 gallon holding tanks are associated with the cooling tower clean out. These holding tanks are sub-grade concrete tanks that hold the cooled water for distribution throughout the plant. Entry requires, Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures as well as Permit Required Confined Space Entry. Carbon Black sludge was removed by vacuum trucks and then pressure washed. The rinsate is then removed and the system recharged.
